Der Eisner Award ist die wichtigste Comicauszeichnung der USA. Ich habe mal herausgesucht, welche europäischen (und argentinischen) Comics es immerhin geschafft haben, für den Eisner Award nominiert zu werden, und welche Comics dann tatsächlich den Preis bekommen haben.

Der andere große Preis, der Harvey Award, wird nicht von einer Jury vergeben, sondern die amerikanischen Comiczeichner stimmen darüber ab. Hier gibt es noch weniger Nominierungen für Europäer als bei den Eisner Awards, aber dafür sogar einige Gewinner, z.B. in diesem Jahr den Norweger Jason.

Die Europäischen Zeichner und Autoren scheinen bei den Amerikanern ja nicht so beliebt zu sein, bzw. für wichtig gehalten zu werden....
aber es ist wohl wie im richtigen Leben :-) ..
klar natürlich die Ausnahme: Serpieri und das bei den prüden Amerikanern aber...siehe oben
Dazu gibt es noch bei jeder Preisverleihung 2-5 Ehrungen fürs Lebenswerk.
Beim „Eisner Award“ wurde bisher als einziger Europäer Jean Giraud/Moebius 1998 in die „Hall of Fame“ aufgenommen.
Gleichzeitig mit den „Harvey Awards“ wird abgestimmt, welche legendären Zeichner in die „Jack Kirby Hall of Fame“ gehören. Darunter drei Europäer:
1997 Jean Giraud/Moebius
1998 Milo Manara
1999 Herge
Schade, dass es keinen internationalen Comic-Award gibt, der alle Comics gleichberechtigt behandelt, seien sie aus den USA, Europa (egal welche Himmelsrichtung), Japan oder anderen Ländern, die da vielleicht noch so übrig bleiben.
In den Jahren 1988 bis 1991 hatte „Moebius“/Jean Giraud immerhin 3 Harveys und 2 Eisners gewonnen! Dazu kamen noch einige Nominierungen.
Mehrmals für den Harvey Award nominiert wurde das Magazin Cheval Noir (http://www.darkhorse.com/products/series/Cheval-Noir/index.html) (1989-94) vom Verlag Dark Horse, das 50 Ausgaben lang versuchte, den US-Amerikanern europäische Comics schmackhaft zu machen.
Harvey-Nominierungen gab es auch für
„Teufelsmaul“ (US-Titel: "Billy Budd, KGB") von François Boucq und Jérôme Charyn (1992),
„Feuer“ von Lorenzo Mattotti (1889) und
„Alack Sinner“ von Carlos Sampayo und Jose Munoz (1989).

Die Nominierungen für den neuen Eisner Award wurden bekanntgegeben.
1. gute Meldung: Herge kommt in die Hall of Fame (als zweiter Europäer nach Moebius).
2. gute Meldung: Zum ersten Mal ist ein deutschsprachiger Zeichner unter den Nominierten - Thomas Ott.
Die Eisner Awards wurden gestern vergeben.
Thomas Ott hat es leider nicht geschafft.
Aber immerhin ist diesmal mit Lorenzo Mattottis „Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde“ zum ersten Mal ein europäisches Album zum besten nichtamerikanischen Comic gewählt worden. In den letzten Jahren waren immer Mangas die Sieger in dieser Kategorie.

Interessante Aufstellung. Allerdings sehe ich unter den prämierten Teilen keinen Comic der es nicht verdient hätte. Inwieweit stützt das deine These das es keine US - Preise für europäische Alben gibt ? Schliesslich werden immer wieder europäische Alben nominiert.

Vielleicht erwarten wir zu viel zu schnell ...
Vor einigen Jahren konnte man Europäer bei Nominierungen mit der Lupe suchen ... und nicht finden (weil europäische Comics auf dem US-Markt so gut wie nicht-existent waren).
Bei den Harvey Awards im vergangenen Jahr gab es in einer Kategorie sogar einen europäischen Sieger:
"Blacksad 2" als bestes Album.

Teddy Kristiansen ist Däne, also noch ein europäischer Preisträger.
Das wäre dann aber so, als ob man die letzten Filme von Roland Emmerich, Jan de Bont oder Renny Harlin für europäisches Kino halten würde.
Eisner Award 2006 (Für 2005 erschienene Comics)
Ein europäischer Gewinner: Joann Sfars "Die Katze des Rabbiners", in einer Kategorie, in der vorher meist die Mangas dominiert haben.
Man kann diesmal den Eindruck gewinnen, als ob sich der Freundeskreis um Lewis Trondheim, Joann Sfar usw. das Monopol gesichert hat.
Ich habe Guy Delisle mit in die Liste aufgenommen, weil ich nicht weiß, wie ich ihn als Franko-Kanadier einordnen soll.
