Later that day, when the time for regular lessons was over and everyone was glad to finally have free time again to enjoy themselves, Cat was on her way to the detention room. She was quite angry about the fact she’d have to spend the rest of the afternoon with some stupid idiots and a freak girl fulfilling stupid tasks the Mrs. Smith had made up to torture them. It was not like she had anything else important to do, but even looking out of the window, watching the rain fall, was of more sense. She didn’t even deserve it.
When she arrived at the door, it was closed. She looked at her watch – ten minutes early. Mrs. Smith would have left the door open if she had been there already and as Cat had no need to be the first to enter the detention room and wait there on her own, she leaned on the wall and waited for her “favourite” teacher to arrive.
About eight minutes later the others arrived nearly all at the same time. Cat noticed Ben and Samantha as well as three others that must have gotten into Mrs. Smith’s way another time that day. Cat was surprised to see Joy there, too. Jeez, what a funny day. She wasn’t really surprised that Bill was still missing though. This no-good guy was always up to something stupid at being late for Mrs. Smith’s detention was just that sort of thing that suited him. Oh well, none of her business, really. And he had still two minutes to go. Lucky for him Mrs. Smith wasn’t there yet anyway. So - no need to hurry. She relaxed, leaning back against the wall once more, waiting for the others to reach her. At least she wasn’t going to spend another evening just on her own in the library. She smiled a little, to greet her comrades in suffering.
