RULES:

1-DATES:

The 30th INTERNATIONAL HUMOR EXHIBITION OF PIRACICABA will be carried out according to the following schedule:

Enrollments until August 20th, 2003

Opening and Awards in August 30th, 2003

2-PARTICIPATION

All professional and amateur cartoonists will be allowed to submit unpublished material of humor, that has not been awarded at any other contest until the opening date (08/30/2003). Every author will be allowed to submit one or two works per category. Works performed in any technique, will beallowed to compete for the internet Prize, but computer-made.

3-CATEGORIES

GAG HUMOR, EDITORIAL CARTOON, CARICATURE and COMIC STRIPS: free subject, format A3 (297 X 420 mm) without frames and attached to cardboard in order to protect it. In the category comic strips, a one to four pages, maximum, comedy-themed, will be accepted.

Categories definitions:

GAG HUMOR: graphic joke written in universal, and timeless themes.

EDITORIAL CARTOON: graphic representation of an actual journalistic subject.

CARICATURE: graphic deformation of a recognizable famous person.

COMIC STRIPS: graphic art, sequentially made, a story is written in a standard format, like those usually published in newspapers.

4-THE AWARDING:

Eight prizes in a total of R$ 12.000,00 will be given, divided into:



a) Four 1st place prizes of R$ 2.000,00 each, distributed among the categories.

b) Four 2nd place prizes of R$ 1.000,00 each, distributed among the categories.



Obs.- The awarding jury the right of not awarding to the categories which don’t reach an adequate level, replacing the works to another category or, to create a special prize for the event. There will be a selection jury and an awarding jury composed of people specialized in this area. The prizes will be acquisitive for Piracicaba’s City Hall. If the awarding jury notices any kind of fraud or plagiarism in one or more enrolled works, the calling off of the given prize can be possible. The awarded works will be announced at the event’s website right after the inauguration, and they can possibly be objected until one week after the event’s opening, trough appropriate evidences of any irregularity made without the knowlwdge of the jury.

Other prizes and mentions can possibly be instituted, according to the Organization Committee.



5-ENROLLMENTS:

Until August 20th, 2003 (posting date). They’ll be sent back up to one year after the end of the event, October 19th, 2003. If the artist wants to get his work back before that date, he must withdraw it at the Centro Nacional de Humor, in Piracicaba.

In addition to the enrollment record, the following information must on the back of each work:

Category in which the author enrolled his work, full name of the author, artistic name, complete address, phone number, e-mail, ID, number of the bank account. They may also send (not compulsory), summarized résumé and photo for the database of the event.

Employees linked to event’s organization are not allowed to participate in the contest.
