Das Indies-Oshare Kei-Quartett bis war ursprünglich mal eine Visual Kei-Band. Dann entschieden sie sich allerdings dazu, ihren Stil zu ändern und wanderten mit ihren harten, punkigen Rocksound in die Oshare Kei-Gefilde ab. Sie distanzierten sich jedoch von dem typisch zuckersüßen Oshare-Stil, waren stattdessen "cool". Ihre Musik und ihr Stil waren ebenso markant, was sowohl auf ihre Musik als auch auf ihre amüsanten CD-Cover, welche z.B.: für drei fortlaufende Single eine Reihe halbnackter Männer zeigte, zurückzuführen ist.

Shunsuke und Tsukasa teilten sich das Komponieren, ab und an wurden die beiden auch durch Marus Freestyle-Rock unterstützt, während er selbst sämtliche Lyrics schrieb - mit gelegentlicher Hilfe von Shunsuke.


Biographie

bis wurden Mitte 2004 gegründet als die ehemaligen Mitglieder von Bands wie Mei (Maru), Jakura (Seika) und Usagi (Tsukasa) zusammenkamen. Ihr erstes Live gaben sie am 30. August im CLUB CITTA' in Kanagawa, dem ziemlich schnell ein Gig in der Takadanobaba AREA (am 15. September) folgte.

Das berühmte PS Compay-Label (verantwortlich unter anderem für Kagrra, und the GazettE) nahm die Band unter Vertrag und kurz darauf stieß Shunsuke als Bassist hinzu. bis nahmen an der PSC Tribal Arrival Tour im September und Oktober 2004 teil und ihr erstes Mini-Album "Freestyle Rock ~jinsei wa joujou da" folgte kurz darauf am 20. Oktober. bis waren auf dem Weg nach oben.

Eine Reihe von Konzerten in ganz Japan folgte, mit denen sie ihre markante Musik immer mehr Visual Kei-Fans vorstellten. Zu Beginn von 2005 waren bis extrem geschäftig. In den fünf Monaten zwischen März und August veröffentlichten sie drei Mini-Alben: "Shu no Genjitsu", "Ao no Risou" und "kyokutou STRIP" und drückten da noch am 7. Mai 2005 ihr erstes One-Man im Shibuya O-EAST dazwischen.

"kyokutou STRIP" war für die Band ein großer Erfolg - erreichte Platz 1 in den Oricon Indies-Album-Charts, aber nur eine Woche nach dem Release von "kyokutou STRIP" verließen bis aus ungeklärten Gründen die PS Company. Lange blieben sie allerdings nicht auf sich allein gestellt, denn durch ihren Erfolg wurden sie von FREE WILL bemerkt und prompt unter Vertrag genommen. bis' erste Single unter FREE WILL, namens "Extra Baka", erschien schon am 23. November 2005 und war noch erfolgreicher - Platz 1 in den Oricon Indies-Singles-Charts.

Anfang 2006 gaben bis regelmäßig ausverkaufte One-Man-Konzerte und brachten zwei weitere Singles heraus: "Heisei comaneci" und "NERICHAGI Otome". Ende September 2006 kündigten sie dann endlich ihr erstes volles Album "Believe in Style" für den Januar 2007 an. Allerdings gab es eine leichte Verzögerung und so wurde das Release auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben.

Nicht, dass dies den Erfolg von bis in irgendeiner Weise beeinflusst hätte - sie wurden als offizieller Partner von Glicos PosCAM Kaugummi auserkoren und beim gratis Musikmagazin Music Up's aufgenommen. Ihr Lied "Color of mind..." und das zugehörige PV konnten Anfang November 2006 auf der Music Up's-Webseite in Augenschein genommen werden. Außerdem wurde jede Single, die sie unter FREE WILL herausgebracht haben, für eine Staffel der Fuji TV-Sendung Shimura Ken no Daijoubu da II als Endlied verwendet; und ihr Lied "START" diente der NTV-Show Miracle Shape als Endlied.

In schneller Aufeinanderfolge erschienen 2007 weitere Sachen, unter Anderem das volle Album "Believe in Style" und das Mini-Album "Problem Child". Beide wurden zu Bestsellern und umso erstaunlicher kam dann die Ankündigung dass sich bis nach der Veröffentlichung ihrer Live-DVD "Tricky Wagon" auflösen würden. Am 13. Januar 2008 gaben sie ein allerletztes Konzert und danach nahmen die Aktivitäten stetig ab.

Ich wollte mal fragen, wer hier alles bis kennt oder hört. Für die, die bis nicht kenne, wollte ich sie dann mal ein bisschen vorstellen.


Ich bin mal vor einiger Zeit auf bis gestoßen und fand sie auch sehr gut. Jedoch habe ich mich dann eine Zeit lang nicht mehr mit ihnen beschäftigt, aber nachdem ich jetzt wieder neues Material zu Ohren bekomme, bin ich wieder sehr begeistert. bis sind einfach eine gute indie VK Band, die aber bereits einen eigenen Sound hat und dieser sich auch schon äußerst professionell anhört.

Ich kenne sie auch, habe mich aber bisher eher mit 176BIZ beschäftigt als mit ihnen - erst wegen der J-Shock habe ich mir ein paar Lieder angehört und sie sind gut!

bis, die 2007 in Deutschland aufgetreten sind, haben ihre Auflösung bekannt gegeben. In ihrem Weblog entschuldigen sie sich dafür, dass diese Entscheidung so plötzlich kommt und bedanken sich bei ihren Fans für die Unterstützung. Das letzte Live der Band findet am 13. Januar im HOLIDAY SHINJUKU statt.

Disbandment of bis



Having performed at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU on the 17th of November, the members have announced on the stage of the organized event [Za・Male Presence] that it has been decided that bis will disband on the 13th of January 2008 (Sunday).

Accepting Maru’s intention to withdraw from bis due to personal reasons as a result after discussing numerous times with the members and staff, along with accepting Maru’s decision, the members personally chose the option to [disband] as they came to a conclusion that [among Maru, Tsukasa, Shunsuke and Seika, if there was one member lacking, doing activities as bis would have no meaning] and [for the sake of each individual’s further development].


The last activity as bis is PROBLEM CHILD TOUR-FINAL one-man live [Baka is NOT DEAD] held at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU on the 13th of January 2008 (Sunday).
Since the beginning it’s about 3 and a half years, and along with thanking the fans and the authorized people concerned who gave massive assistance, please do continue to give your support to the remaining activities right till the end.



Maru:

To everyone who has given their support till now…
Sorry that it has come to such a state.

But there were no negative thoughts so please don’t worry.
Up till now I’ve always only looked at progressing forward but from some time onwards I got the feeling that there was a little problem that while singing something was missing like there seem to be a hole somewhere…

In that state the place where I was standing at was in a difficult position so that’s why

though I kept doing it till now, I thought of returning to zero once.
After this I don’t know if I will stand in front of everyone again in the future but

The stuff we throw out is definitely never-changing and won’t change so if you feel lost and want to recall, please listen to our songs.

Firstly, naturally having to give such information I deeply want to apologise.

About the disbandment, I guess each and every member had various feelings but personally I feel that saying [disbanding] is better than saying [breaking up] isn’t it?

In about 3 and a half years of activities, success, failure, things that made us happy, things that were sorrowful, things that were fun, things that made us tear, there were countless of them. But even with that, on the whole in each individual cell there is, the fact is that we carry every single one and depart for our journey from here.



To me these cells are the basic things of our changing lives after this.



Even if we’re foolish, unskillful and impertinent, thank you for giving your support to this band that often thinks… no, to this horrible band that often doesn’t think (laugh)

But the best thing I think is that everyone who has grown with us, you’re the strongest.

Though it’s been a short period of 3 and a half years, however amidst nothing but moving forward swiftly, meeting the fans who persisted with us, I feel very blessed that we are able to do things together in the same time, same period. I really thank you for supporting us all the way.
Because of the many people out there, we are able to construct a landscape not by just 4 of us alone.
Honestly, it is regretful that bis who has made such steep development is going to disband, but if from here on the member’s lives are going to be better, I feel that I will face this decision positively now.
The remaining activities are few however, one by one, I think we will give it our best with all our power till the end so please see it for yourself.
Looking back now, it’s about 3 and a half years since we started activities. As a leader honestly there were many sweet parts, insufficient parts, and things that made us troubled and feel lost.

But with the support of the people around us and the fans, we were able to overcome that and I was also able to change myself.

Thank you for giving us the courage to overcome these.
As I’m still unable to completely sort out my mind and heart, hereafter regarding myself and whether I will continue with music or retire from music it is still uncertain. After this I will think about the next stage of my life.

However, in a form like that if I can meet everyone again it’ll be great.
In conclusion, thank you for giving your support to bis, and the 4 of us.

Hier ist das englische Interview von der CURE..da steht es etwas ausführlicher. Ich muss es auch noch mal lesen - aber irgendwie ist es so, dass Maru sich plötzlich unwohl mit dem Fortbestehen der Band fühlte, glaub ich x_x

Schlechte Nachrichten für Fans des bis-Bassisten. >.<

Shunsuke (ex-bis) verstorben

Die Nachricht geisterte als Gerücht bereits durch diverse Foren und bezog sich auf Blogeinträge mehrerer Musiker, die mit Shunsuke befreundet waren. Jedoch waren die Aussagen dort uneindeutig formuliert, beziehungsweise nachträglich offenbar sogar gelöscht worden. Nun ist es aber offiziell.

Im Blog des Künstlers wurde heute mitgeteilt, dass der ehemalige Bassist von bis und EllDorado am 28. März verstorben sei. Da zur eigentlichen Bestattung nur Familie und engste Freunde kommen werden, wird am 3. Mai in Tokyo eine Andacht stattfinden, um auch den Fans die Möglichkeit zu geben, Abschied zu nehmen. Genauere Infos sollen noch folgen.

Wie die Musikszene, trauern auch wir um den Verlust eines talentierten Musikers.
