A journey of immortals and those who chase after it. The majority of this story takes place a few centuries into the future where Kurou is separated from Kuromitsu and without memories and he then searches for answers to who is and why he does not die and who was the women he is so transfixed upon.

Wenn ein Mensch davor ist zu sterben, erscheint eine schwache graue Linie um seinem Hals, welche für die meisten unsichtbar ist. Mit der Zeit wird die Linie dunkler und dunkler, bis sie schliesslich schwarz ist und die Person stirbt.

Kita Michiru hat eine besondere Gabe, sie besitzt "Shinigami Augen", welche ihr erlauben diese Ringe zu sehen. Als Michiru bemerkt, dass 2 Jungs aus ihrer Klasse, Akatsuki Chika und Tachibana Shito nicht nur Linien haben, sondern diese auch schon schwarz sind, erzählen sie ihr, dass sie eigentlich vor 6 Monaten bei einem tragischen Autounfall hätten sterben sollen. Mit der Hilfe von Zombie Loan loan Office, wurde ihnen eine zweite Lebenschance gegeben. Es ist ihnen möglich ihre Schuld dafür abzubezahlen in dem sie die Arbeit eines Shinigami vollziehen und bösartige Zombies töten. Sie fragen Michiru, ob sie ihnen bei der Arbeit helfen kann. Während die Geschichte weiterschreitet, bemerkt sie, dass sich ihr alltägliches Leben dramatisch verändert.
